2012 Maxima Details

The 2012 Maxima is available in two trim levels: S and SV.  Both trims are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque.  This front-wheel drive vehicle has a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The Maxima has great acceleration, handles well, and offers a smooth ride thanks to its well-tuned suspension.  This car has an EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The S trim's standard features include automatic headlights, keyless ignition/entry, cloth seats, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat, a four-way power front passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a sunroof, Bluetooth phone capability, and an eight-speaker stereo with a six-CD changer.  The SV trim has additional standard features including foglights, leather seating, driver manual thigh-support extender, driver power lumbar support, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system with satellite radio.

The 2012 Maxima comes standard with many safety features including stability control, traction control, antilock disc brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, tire pressure monitoring, front-seat side-impact airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, and active front-seat head restraints. The SV trim offers a rearview camera to increase safety for backing up and parking.

The 2012 Maxima received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest score of "Good" for frontal-offset and side crash protection and an "Acceptable" score for roof strength tests.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave this car five stars out of a possible five stars for side crash tests and rollover risk tests and three stars for front crash tests.  The car's overall score was four stars.
