2012 Nissan Sentra Details                       

The 2012 Nissan Sentra is available in six trims ? 2.0, 2.0 S, 2.0 SR, 2.0 SL, SE-R and SE-R Spec V.  The 2.0, 2.0 S, 2.0 SR, and 2.0 SL trims are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque.  The SE-R and SE-R Spec V are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.  The SE-R engine generates 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque while the SE-R Spec V engines puts out 200 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.

The base 2.0 Sentra has a standard manual transmission and an optional continually variable automatic transmission (CVT).  The SE-R Spec V is only available with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission.  The remaining trims come standard with a CVT.  The SE-R also has steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The Sentra trims with a 2.0-liter engine and a manual transmission have an EPA rating of 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway and with a CVT are rated at 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.  The SE-R is rated at 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.  The SE-R Spec-V has a rating of 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

 

2012 Nissan Sentra Safety and Features

The 2012 Sentra has numerous standard safety features including stability control, traction control, four-wheel antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, front and rear head airbags, dual front side-mounted airbags, child seat anchors, a driver and passenger head restraint whiplash protection system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and an engine immobilizer.

The 2012 Sentra earned an overall score of four out of a total of five stars on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests. This car scored three stars for both overall frontal crash protection and overall side crash protection. The Sentra received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest score of "Good" for frontal-offset crash tests and a score of "Acceptable" for both side impact crash tests and roof strength tests.
